GENERAL FUNCTION

The Category Manager is responsible for activating seasonal product stories that bring their respective categories to life across channels. In doing so, the Category Management team is geared toward maximizing sales growth and deepening the consumer’s awareness of and affinity for the brand’s product offering. This position is highly cross-functional in the pursuit of executing category activations, building product marketing messages, harvesting consumer insights, and managing initiative budgets. This position reports into the Director, Category Management and works closely with product, sales, and regional counterparts to drive cohesive, consumer-obsessed storytelling. The ideal candidate is a trail-blazing tactician, relishes the opportunity to create solutions and collaborate with teammates across the brand, and has a keen eye for details that enhance the experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of the product within respective categories and of the focus countries and accounts that will carry them.
  • Partner with international marketing teams to execute annual marketing plans and ensure successful implementation of programs (prioritize key markets).
  • Partner with Director Category Management to build annual marketing plans and ensure successful implementation of programs respective accounts in North America (prioritize key accounts).
  • Build seasonal global product marketing sell-in and sell-through kits for respective category sell-in and sell-through toolkits for global product marketing stories.
  • Develop creative briefs for category activations across respective channels.
  • Evaluate the global market reaction to category briefs and executions.
  • Act as the liaison between the brand and respective regional partners to ensure that regional needs and consumer nuances are communicated to the Category Management team.
  • Communicate with commercial teams to ensure that respective category product marketing positioning and objectives are well defined and manage global consistency of brand message.
  • Manage respective initiative-based budgets.
  • Model collaborative, problem solving mentality to enhance the go-to-market experience.
  • Partner with product counterparts to integrate consumer insights into category management.
  • Performs duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager

 

Qualifications

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ marketing experience
  • Major national brand experience required and international marketing experience preferred.
  • Must be results oriented with a high degree of personal initiative and leadership
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines. Excellent project management and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills - a proven track record of leadership across functional lines that delivers business results
  • Must have strong consumer understanding skills, ability to translate customer insights into successful marketing programs and a high degree of creativity to find new, compelling ways to reach and communicate to consumers
  • Strong experience in consumer marketing, product marketing, and/or trade marketing, ideally in a consumer products environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including a high comfort level with public speaking and presenting.
  • Ability to multi-task, combining strategy and execution.
  • A track record of effectively working to a budget and measuring results
  • Knowledge of footwear markets and retail climate
  • Travel up to 35%
