GENERAL FUNCTION

This role is primarily responsible for managing the ongoing improvements and stability of business critical front end eCommerce content development. This collaborative leader will leverage deep technical expertise and business knowledge to solve problems and drive effective content solutions to meet key objectives and drive eCommerce business results.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Lead the ongoing implementation of effective front end content development solutions based on a shared platform framework. Understands the technical ecosystem and how core solutions should be designed and leveraged across the environment.
  • Develop and optimize workflow processes to improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Partner closely with commercial teams to understand key business drivers and content priorities – bridging the gap between technical and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with UX and backend technology team on continual user experience optimization.
  • Monitor and optimize codebase for improved load times & performance.
  • Drive coding best practices, including modular & scalable solutions and code reuse.
  • Ongoing proactive communications with commercial teams to ensure they are fully informed and enabled to best drive the eCommerce business.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of Demandware platform, development frameworks, and browser compatibility.
  • Lead quality assurance and global rollout of front end content across the platform and branded sites – ensuring that mobile is always considered.
  • Hire, manage, and mentor front end development team members.
  • Ensure that front end development best practices are fully utilized, including user experience standards, accessibility, performance optimization, localization, scalability, device compatibility, and more.
  • Plan, forecast, and manage the front end development budget. Works within budget constraints to help prioritize requests. Understands cost vs. benefit and applies critical analysis to maintenance requests.
  • Ensures effect QA processes QA exist and high quality code gets promoted to production.
  • Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, design, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years front end development experience, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, and other technologies.
  • Experience with B2C e-commerce platforms, websites, and applications.
  • Experience managing the day-to-day development/maintenance in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demandware specific experience a plus
  • Hands on experience managing project/task management software such as Jira.
  • Mobile web/technology specific experience a plus
  • Experience in global multi-branded B2C environments a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
