Chaco is an iconic outdoor brand that has been at the forefront of outdoor adventure for almost 25 years by creating premium footwear, apparel and accessories for the outdoor-minded. The Chaco ecommerce team is looking for a Site Merchandiser to play a key role in supporting the direct-to-consumer (DTC) online presence on This role resides within the Chaco ecommerce team and will partner closely with the brand marketing team. 



The eCommerce Site Merchandiser will strategically merchandise, evaluate product assortments and manage the ecommerce inventory for the website. He/She will be involved in site optimization projects, coordinate product selections with the ecommerce content manager and collaborate with teams consisting of brand content specialists, web designers and front-end web developers.


  • Develop a deep expertise of the Chaco brand, its consumers, and its products to present a compelling story online and maximize revenue and conversion.
  • Identify product assortment for ecommerce in the context of the broader brand content stories and strategy.
  • Build seasonal inventory plans and manage in-season to maximize site in-stock, conversion, and revenue while realizing healthy turnover and minimizing end-of-season liquidation.
  • Manage markdown lifecycle and associated markdown cadence.
  • Determine and execute site taxonomy and style categorization to facilitate product browsing and conversion.
  • Recommend and execute seasonal merchandising plans to create a compelling consumer experience and to effectively present product stories in an integrated manner across ecommerce touch points (site, email, etc.).
  • Recommend and execute seasonal promotional plans to maximize revenue and achieve gross margin targets.
  • Use reporting and web analytics tools such as BW Reporting and Omniture to analyze site experience and product presentation performance and optimize accordingly.
  • Manage A/B testing initiatives with internal UX/UI partners to optimize conversion performance.
  • Research the marketplace and competitive set for trends and new ideas related to the online consumer shopping experience and site presentation.
  • Partner with ecommerce marketing to support SEO initiatives.




  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Merchandising, or Mathematics background.
  • 3+ years of online merchandising experience, preferably in a direct-to-consumer environment, including experience with both buying and planning as well as site merchandising.
  • Experience with web technology platforms/working with content management systems to update product images, descriptions, attributes and product pricing.
  • Exceptional quantitative/analytical skills necessary.
  • Exceptional coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Strong understanding and passion for ecommerce, user interfaces and visual site merchandising.
  • General product knowledge of footwear & apparel a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word – advanced Excel skills preferred.
