GENERAL FUNCTION

Ensures efficient functioning of the product development process.  Details, coordinates and expedites samples for the brand for both domestic and offshore production.

Primary Duties

  1. Manages the product development process / team.
  2. Manages the product development fit trial process.
  3. Manages the logistics of product data capture and logging from prototype stage through final stock number assignment.
  4. Acts as liaison between sales, marketing, merchandising and product development.
  5. Monitors FOB costs of newly developed products.
  6. Expedites product changes to sourced facilities to ensure prototypes are first rate for ordering samples to be delivered to the sales force on time.
  7. Works with PD and Marketing on detailed assessments of competitive product and technologies.
  8. Coordinates and expedites Special Make sample product initiatives.
  9. Researches and obtains newly developed raw materials that meet or exceed WWW quality standards for placement into newly development prototypes.
  10. Monitors development timelines on prototypes for timely delivery of samples to sales force.
  11. Manages the product design process to develop patterns and for prototypes/new developments.
  12. Researches trends and conducts material trials.
  13. Maintains PLM Module.
  14. Establishes and maintains Line Planning Calendar, and coordinating regular meeting with PD and Sourcing to establish and monitor the critical path to ensure on-time delivery.
  15. Coordinates Product Briefs and data between PD, Sales and Marketing.
  16. Coordinates Patterns with Briefs, keeping projects on-time with offshore partners.
  17. Work with PD to determine availability of sizes by pattern.
  18. Assembles duty codes with the Customs Compliance department in order to determine final cost of new product.
  19. Reports line logic, and global carry-overs.
  20. Gather information globally (US, Canada, International, and UK/BV) to determine global demand by month, updating actuals and shipments.
  21. Market travel with Sales & Tech Reps to gather product initiatives and ideas.
  22. Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  23. Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years experience in the footwear industry.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire product development team.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office Suite and SAP.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.  Some travel required.
