Assist in the management the Product Development of the specific categories.  Deliver the best functioning, fitting, performing apparel possible, while executing to Design’s aesthetic intent and corporate margin objectives.

The Apparel Associate Product Developer is responsible for all stages of the development process for their specific category.  Their experience is relied on to raise issues and to seek resolution with their supervisor.

Primary Duties

  • Manage the product development cycle to effectively deliver quality product at the established retail introduction periods and profit margins.
  • Proactively manage the product development process according to the Product Introduction Calendar.
  • Acts as the knowledge sharing hub and a key individual in product development process.
  • On time delivery of all agreed upon key samples
  • Achieve a minimum target margins while, at the same time, providing value for the consumer.
  • Operates with a complete understanding of the product development process (which includes Design, Pre-costing,  Development)
  • Consistently manages systems, timelines, and projects in an organized, well-prioritized manner
  • Involves and communicates with other departments at appropriate times and works pro-actively to stay ahead of timelines
  • Effectively manages development projects: able to identify, access and utilize resources outside of direct control to facilitate development objectives
  • Participate in training (factory visits, material shows, apparel classes, computer training, vendor visits to broaden their awareness of apparel techniques
  • Resolves all pre-costing issues in a complete and timely manner
  • Performing duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  • Performing other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-4 years of prior experience in the industry
  • Basic knowledge of apparel manufacturing, patternmaking, fabrication, garment fit/construction.
  • Passion and interest in athletic competition or fitness related activities
  • An eye for details
  • Ability to anticipate potential issues at an early stage
  • Strong ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines. Delivers accurate data on-time and in-full.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.
