    The Manager, Merch Planning & Allocation is responsible for planning sales in units and dollars by brand, channel, category and stock number in alignment with divisional strategy and financial goals for wholesale; maximizing top line sales and gross margin goals by analyzing performance of current sales trends and applying to plans, forecasts, and buys; and managing to inventory metrics by month through factory buys and long-term production plans.

    Primary Duties

    • Execute line plans in units and dollars by brand, channel, category and stock number for the US and Canada.
    • Align plans with divisional strategy and financial goals.
    • Ensure plans achieve SKU and productivity metrics.
    • Manage and direct SKU productivity with divisional partners.
    • Create and execute product forecasts and buys utilizing divisional strategy, trend, backlog, account forecasts, competitive information and market conditions.
    • Partner with finance to ensure merchandising forecasts and financial forecasts are aligned
    • Manage divisional inventory.
    • Forecast and place monthly buys in alignment with financial goals.
    • Manage inventory flow to maximize sales and minimize product obsolescence.
    • Execute long-range production plans.
    • Communicate plans and long-term production plans to sourcing partners to facilitate manufacturing planning.
    • Manage and communicate shifts in long-range production plans.
    • Manage and communicate production shifts due to commercialization issues or sourcing changes.
    • Continuously monitor market sell through and inventory levels, booking and shipping trends to direct necessary adjustments to factory purchase order dates, styles and/or sizes.
    • Strategically lead and manage aged inventory disposition guaranteeing highest financial return.
    • Partner with sales and finance to proactively implement wholesale promotions and off price sales.
    • Partner with retail to proactively manage aged inventory disposition.
    • Lead and partner with Customer Service and Shared Services.
    • Performs duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
    • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent, with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
    • Experience planning, forecasting, and buying footwear or consumer products.
    • Keen eye for product as well as the ability to identify and plan appropriate distribution and volumes.
    • Ability to analyze and summarize data to arrive at informed and effective recommendations or decisions.
    • Advanced capabilities in Excel and data warehouse reporting are critical.
    • Must have the confidence to present plans to the team, lead key discussion points, and gain the consensus of the team.
    • Must embrace and lead continuous improvement.
    • Must be a strong team player possessing the ability to build positive working relationships with associates at various levels and cross functional areas of the organization.
    • Highly organized and self-motivated.
    • Able to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while still achieving agreed-upon deadlines.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
