  • General Function

    Play a critical role by partnering to manage and drive the material & trim process from development through production.  The developer will drive the process of evaluating, developing and negotiating material and trim costs, lead-times, material testing and the complete lab dip process.

    Primary Duties

    1. Manage and drive the material & trim process from development through production. Act as the lead and primary conduit to mills & trim suppliers. Manage and maintain the relationships with these sources. Create and maintain the materials Library.
    2. Research and source new material development for both seasonal and advance development. Act as the primary stakeholder in evaluating and negotiating initial material and trim costs, lead-times-logistics, material testing (as required), and the complete lab dip process.
    3. Act as the material specialist through immersion and research of the performance-sport lifestyle market landscape. Analyze and present end-user benefit through material technology and innovation. Present compelling and applicable opportunities for “best in” or “first to market” opportunities in materials and technology to support strategic product initiatives.
    4. Own and direct critical calendar events for material and trim development-production from initial material-trim concepts, through material adoptions and color freeze, securing proto-sample yardage, to final bulk approvals for production.
    5. Complete ownership of material & trim color management from acquiring Pantone chips, organizing the palette for dissemination to the mills & manufacturers, managing fabric-thread correlations, lab dip status for on-times sale samples, and color approvals for bulk production.
    6. Create and maintain all critical material-trim documentation including master material-mill chart, fabric-trim BOM’s, fabric profile sheets, trim tech sheets,

      3rd Party testing, lab dip status reports and Bulk Production lot color approvals-

      reports.

    7. Partnering with the Tech Manager, secure proto yardage, for sample development, and manage fabric and trim BOM’s sheets for timely and accurate development.
    8. Working with Production-Sourcing Manager, drive the procurement of sample yardage, material cost negotiation, hangtag allocation-inventory,and the management of excess fabric and trims.
    9. Performing duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
    10. Performing other duties as required/assigned by manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    • Bachelors degree in Fashion/Textile or related field
    • 3+ years experience in sporting goods apparel and/or textiles with an expertise in highly technical and performance materials/fabrics/textiles preferred
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure
    • Ability to adapt to shifting business needs and remain flexible to cross-functional requirements as needed to drive and elevate business function(s) and fiscal expectations.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written & verbal) skill set.
    • Strong analytical skill set
    • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Strong MS Office skill set with an emphasis in Word and Excel

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Normal office environment. Some travel required.
