    The HR Generalist aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated functional areas within Wolverine Worldwide. This includes employee relations, HR processes, compliance, talent acquisition, employee engagement and total rewards.  In addition, the HR Generalist provides support to the Human Resources Director and assists with employee relations, project management, and program development.

    Primary Duties

    • Partners with assigned business units and provides guidance and input on all aspects of Human Resources.
    • Develops human resource and business solutions in collaboration with the HR Director. Assists with various analysis, research and special projects. 
    • Provides day-to-day talent management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
    • Acts as a connection between management and employees in matters of employee relations, talent management, learning and development, talent acquisition and total rewards.
    • Supports the administration of human resource policies and programs for the assigned facility or functional group to ensure compliance and alignment with corporate HR policies and practices.
    • Uses and provides assistance in the usage of human resource systems and tools for talent management, performance management, reporting and staffing.
    • Responsible for identifying training needs and working in partnership with the Learning & Organizational Development team to implement impactful learning and development.
    • Performs employee service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
    • Coordinates hourly and salaried hiring practices to ensure appropriate staffing levels are achieved with qualified and engaged individuals. Assists with pre-screening and interviewing process. 
    • Partners with leaders to support onboarding process for new or transferred employees.
    • Perform duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
    • Perform other duties as required/assigned by manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in related human resource field, or equivalent experience required.
    • Specialized HR Certifications such as PHR, SPHR preferred
    • Minimum 3 -5 years of relevant experience in human resources
    • Knowledge of federal/country and state/province employment laws/regulations
    • Previous HRIS systems experience such as Peoplesoft, a plus
    • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage conflict and escalate when necessary
    • Strong relationship-building & team collaboration skills
    • Ability to coach and counsel leadership
    • Ability to prioritize tasks
    • Desires a fast-paced, ever-changing, fun environment
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


    Normal office environment.  Minimal travel required.
