    The Design Director designs and develops price sensitive, aesthetically pleasing footwear that is functional, comfortable and marketable.

    Primary Duties

    • Researches market and fashion trends in order to design new product that will sell..
    • Performs all specifications for design packages from beginning to end.
    • Creates seasonal color pallets.
    • Designs and develops market appropriate footwear within project development guidelines.
    • Works with the model shop on outsole models.
    • Ensures that patterns, construction and outsole blueprints are in line with design with overseas factories for production.
    • Interacts with leather suppliers to develop and match new leathers, colors and finishing’s.
    • Informs Marketing of all key selling features and benefits of finished products.
    • Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
    • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent work experience
    • 6+ years footwear design experience.
    • Ability to effectively communicate visually through sketches and illustrations.
    • Proficient with personal computers.
    • Good organization skills and strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to meet deadlines.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Normal office environment.  International and domestic travel.
